Great-great-grandmother “Chin

She was the one who planted our beloved lemon tree, now one of the symbols of Antica Casa Virginia.

It used to be said that with a plot of land and a chicken coop, you would never go hungry. Where the garden stands today, the women of my family cultivated a vegetable patch, herbs for cooking, and even a frankincense plant, which was used during religious services in the family chapel.

A neighbor on Via Piave kept a goat, and every morning Chin would go to fetch fresh milk for her children.
